Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN) and Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EdoSPHCDA) will officially hand over four renovated Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in Owan West, Ikpoba Okha, Oredo, and Uhunmwode local governments to the communities.

This marks the first phase of the foundation’s multi-bilion naira commitment to renovate 23 PHCs in Nigeria under the Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility Programme (ADHFP).

ADHFP, launched by PSHAN, seeks to ensure every Nigerian, regardless of geographical or socio-economic status, access equitable, affordable healthcare services.

Noting the challenges in Nigeria’s healthcare system — poverty, inequality, and disease — Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, committed in November 2021, to adopt 23 PHCs, 18 in Edo State.

The renovation and revitalisation of these centres reflect an approach at enhancing service delivery.

Mrs. Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, co-founder and executive vice chair of the foundation, noted: “A healthy population is the cornerstone of sustainable development. Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation is steadfast in its commitment to bridging the healthcare gap by revitalising Primary Healthcare Centres in underserved communities. Inauguration of the first four renovated PHCs in Edo State is a step toward our vision of a healthier, more equitable future for Nigerians.”

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PSHAN, Dr. Tinuola Akinbolagbe, said: “Our partnership with Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation represents a milestone in addressing the healthcare gap in Nigeria. The event symbolises not just the completion of a project, but the beginning of a chapter in our commitment to improving healthcare. Through ADHFP, we aim to make a difference in people in underserved communities transforming healthcare delivery throughout the country.”

The upcoming ribbon-cutting ceremony is a pivotal moment in the foundation’s broader mission to improve primary healthcare delivery. With these facilities ready to serve their communities, Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation hopes to inspire further support for Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility, encouraging other stakeholders to join in the effort to renovate and revitalise more PHCs in Nigeria.
