About the Workshop

Background
Nigeria’s public service, once celebrated for its professionalism and accomplishments, has faced significant challenges over the years. Political intervention, cronyism, ethical issues, and lack of meritocracy have undermined its effectiveness. In response to this decline, the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation conducted an in-depth research study to understand why many reforms have failed and to propose actionable recommendations for future success.

The workshop aims to present the findings of our research, identify impediments to sustained success, and propose actionable recommendations. It will serve as a platform for constructive dialogue among key stakeholders, with the following objectives:

Objectives

Stimulate Constructive Engagement: Enhance the planning and implementation of public sector reforms through dynamic discussions and idea exchanges.
Propose Solutions: Address key issues such as lack of meritocracy, ethical challenges, citizen inclusion, and minimal interagency collaboration.
Refine Research: Engage stakeholders in reviewing our research findings and provide feedback to improve future public service reforms.
