Nura Rimi; The Honourable Minister, Trade and Investment, FMITI, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; Honourable Minister of State Industry, FMITI, Sen. John Owan Enoh; Executive Vice Chair of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Mrs Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, and Director of Programmes of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Chioma Njoku during the signing of an MoU to support the digitalisation of the Ministry and enhance the capacity building of its staff.
With each new partnership, we move closer to our vision of a world-class public service. Building on the successful digitalisation of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service, we are now extending our support to other Ministries in the public sector. This month, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment to drive digital transformation, strengthen public sector capacity, and enhance service delivery. Together, we are shaping the future of governance in Nigeria.
In a major push to improve the African public sector, the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has entered into a partnership with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment (FMITI). The agreement, signed during the ministry’s retreat in Abuja, focuses on leveraging digital technology and training to help FMITI work smarter and faster.
This partnership, focused on digitalising FMITI, has the potential to fast-track Nigeria’s industrial and trade growth through a comprehensive digital overhaul, including the deployment of enterprise content management systems and staff upskilling. These efforts are crucial in helping the Ministry achieve its mandate of creating and maintaining an enabling environment for development and expansion of trade and investment in Nigeria.
Building on our successful digitalisation of the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), this new project will train staff, upgrade systems, and introduce user-friendly tech tools to help FMITI deliver results more effectively.
At the signing ceremony, our Executive Vice-Chair, Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, expressed enthusiasm about the commencement of this project with FMITI. She noted that FMITI’s work is vital to the economy and that this partnership will give them the tools to serve Nigerians better.
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, emphasised the urgency of the project. She said that the ministry is ready to hit the ground running and that the Foundation’s support comes at just the right time. She added that the Foundation helped other agencies go digital, and FMITI is eager to achieve the same results.
